Agreed. Nothing in any of the official program histories alludes to any sort of companion. None of the USAF F-117A training instructions, nor the pilot's operating handbook (F-117A Flight Manual) suggests a need for a companion. The F-117A concept of operations is based on single-ship tactics. No one involved with design, construction, maintenance, or operation of the F-117A has ever mentioned the need for a companion. No drawings, photos, or hardware from such an aircraft has ever shown up. No program patches? No evidence of fleet attrition? I think it's just a myth.
