I wouldn't say that the business in Texas is shady in any sense. It seems to be a telephone sales company, in which case the use of multiple corporation/LLC names is not at all unusual. Some businesses in this line of work do get an unfavorable reputation for hiring people with exciting though always hedged promises of big money that never come true. They'll say "unlimited earnings potential," knowing that everyone focuses on the "unlimited" part and ignores the "potential." I have no idea if this Texas outfit operates that way, though given that it's been around for years I strongly suspect it's completely legitimate.
In any event, it's highly likely that a different person or entity now owns the aircraft, such as that club at Edwards, and the registration database hasn't yet been updated. It's not as if many things are business as usual these days.
