SWC is more or less still shut down. 1500' agl limit is still in place. A Nevada air guard C-130 reportedly went below the rim in mid January, according to "George" who posted pics on YouTube. However his credibility is suspect because he's one of those people who goes up there and likes to force other people out of their spots. Some of the traffic has moved over to nearby Kern River Canyon, but they've always gone thru there as it's part of Sidewinder. I have not yet found the spotting point but it's not as easily accessible as SWC is. Also, there is a similar spot in Washington state, but access to that one is even more difficult, but still on public land. It will be quite awhile before things return to normal, IF ever. I've seen other claims of a/c going thru, and below the rim, but I have yet to see any photos as proof.
