Also, AF1 is notorious for its deception tactics. For overseas trips, it is not uncommon for the aircraft to use different call signs and fly with a transponder that identifies it as a Gulfstream, a much smaller business jet. Quite a surprise to other pilots who see it visually in flight, expecting to see a biz jet, and end up seeing AF1 instead!
