U2 Operations out of KVNY during the 70's

Wondering if anyone could expand on the U2 opertions that were conducted out of the Van Nuys airports during the early 70's? Lockheed has a fairly large hangar left over from WW2 that had been used for a helicopter that they were developing and Lockheed Missle used this hangar as well.

The story I heard back then was Lockheed was doing scheduled naintenance of the U2's in the form of an Air Force IRAN (Inspect and Repair as Necessary). There would be about one fight a week and if you happened to be there to watch either the TO or landings, it was always impressive. Generally they would be towed to the departure runway, or hooked up after land and having there outriggers installed and then towed to the hangar area.
