Agree with others that the security surrounding these aircraft is/was exaggerated probably simply because the contract for maintenance called for it. I suppose this was Delta Air Lines Tech Ops Center in ATL as they do a lot of outside maintenance.

I have toured AF1 (747) as well as the C32 (757) that the 89th fly's and have always been reminded no interior pictures allowed. Had to leave cell phones with a security detail prior to boarding.

Use to operate a privately owned 767 and the owners had a security detail scan the aircraft for bugs about every three months. This scan was done both on the ground and while airborne. Would not be surprised if the Janet birds do something similar.
