Thanks Alan, I do recall that one of these was a 1649, wich was a fairly rare version of the Connie. I suppose Lockheed would have done the crewing for these aircraft?
I wonder about the F27 as a company I use to work for operated an F27 for the DOE doing daily round trips between Livermore and the NTS. The airplane was N registered but owned by the DOE. One of the pilots was a former SR71 guy. He landed short back at Livermore and knocked the gear off. When the FAA first got involved in the investigation they took one look and went home after learning that it was a DOE airplane and out of their jurisdiction.
