During a trip last week it was apparent that the dry lakebed runways were getting way more action than I recall as an occasional visitor. In retrospect. this isn't perhaps too surprising if the FAA flight checker was checking these recently, so one assumes some approach aids are in place. One of the Janet Beech 200s and SCARY1/2 F-16s were doing circuits n bumps on 14/32 and 21 and 27. I'm aware that the lakebed is mostly hidden from the normal viewing point (Tikaboo). Although recent sateliite images don't show much action on the lakebed, I'm wondering whether it's becoming more of a focus? A year ago it was mused as a possible location for something akin to a Loyal Wingman demo (see link). A trial of some sort was taking place early last Wednesday (126.6) but the visibility was poor and associated craft could not be seen. Ed
