I was up there a year ago July and had no issues whatsoever. The road, at that time, was washed out from the rains so a 4x4 is a good idea. We stayed up there for a few hours, took photos and video and generally just hung out. The "weather station" keeps an eye on you, at least I think it does. Its a great experience and we plan on going back next year. Have a good time and enjoy the view
