Hello everyone! I am a long time lurcher of this forum, but today also a first time poster!

I was wondering about the times before 1955 when Kelly Johnson put the compass to the ground and effectivly claimed the grounds. I have understood that it was possibly called "Indian Springs Air Force Auxiliary Field", or "Las Vegas Bomb & Gunnery range, Groom Lake".

Would anyone know if there was installations at the site, and personell stationed by Groom during WW2, and would there happen to be any pictures availiable on the web on the Pre U-2 era from Groom?
