I remember that. Shortly afterward, the airplane was placed on static display at the Edwards AFB air show. It had some slight scuffing of the paint on the underside of the nose but otherwise appeared undamaged. That demonstrated the value of using the dry lakebed as a contingency landing field. In 2001, a C-5 made a similar landing at Edwards.
