Clandestine Movement Week (CMW) begins today. CMW is the one week a month where the moon is nearly covered by the shadow of the Earth. This allows for outdoor activities (such as moving secret, non-existant aircraft) to be done without being illuminated by the glow from the moon.

The percent of moon reflection for the coming week is as follows (this is for Palmdale Ca but it's roughly the same everywhere):
23 Sept - 18%,
24 Sept - 10%,
25 Sept - 4%,
26 Sept - 1%,
27 Sept - 0%,
28 Sept - 3%,
29 Sept - 8%,
30 Sept - 16%

If you aren't watching for odd nighttime activities at least listen for them. I live in Lancaster Ca near plant 42 and most of my experiences with nighttime departures from there have occured during this part of the month over the last 30 years.
