There are a few F-117A aircraft flying, though reportedly not from TTR, and a few airframes are being used for spare parts. According to some sources, the remaining aircraft are being broken up and buried at TTR. TTR is home to the 30th Reconnaissance Squadron, charged with developing advanced concepts and validating tactics, techniques, and procedures for integrating remotely piloted aircraft systems into the nation’s war fighting capabilities. There have been other classified test activities at TTR, as well, including electronic warfare projects. The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) operates TTR under the terms of a land use agreement with the Air Force that is due for renewal or expiration in 2019. Sandia manages NNSA flight-test operations for gravity weapons (bombs) to assure compatibility of the hardware necessary for the interface between the weapon and the delivery system, and to assess weapon system functions under realistic delivery conditions.
