This reminds me that I recently bought a book called "Seal Team Six: Memoirs of An Elite Navy Seal Sniper" by Howard Wasdin and Stephen Temple. On pages 174-175 Wasdin mentions being in a sniper competition. He mentions a long range event from 500 to 750 yards to target, and the Department of Energy nuclear power plant Savannah River team placing third. This does make me wonder if NTS or Area 51 have something like sniper teams as a last resort type defense against unauthorized individuals trying to access the base? I would not be surprised.
