Another Roswell Mutation

Another Roswell Mutation. I can vouch for how things get jumbled together in your memory as you age. I also understand how the ooo-eeee-oooo sells books better than real history. Too bad folks spent time trying to get a real story out to someone who's interest is only in selling books.

How many times have you seen 'conspiracy theories' about why the Flying Wing was cancelled by 'politicians' when anyone with a clue can see why it failed to be selected for development (thick airfoil limited speed, bomb cells could not stow a Mk-III, IV, or VI bomb).

The government found investigating UFO reports a good way to check the ability to observe high-altitude balloons and aircraft without letting on what we were flying. Likewise the attribution of the sightings to little green men helped 'explain' the sighting. Better if they were blamed on the Russians as that helped funding.

There is no question secrecy contributed to the Roswell incident and then helped perpetuate the endlessly improved stories.

Hyped Flight 19 stories sound pretty 'supernatural' until you read the navy report and discover the flight commander had a long record of getting lost and running out of fuel.
