NASA is looking for maximum tourist exposure and thus maximum good will for NASA. Thus my home town, Houston, is not getting a shuttle. There are people with an honest connection to the program here, and certainly a very expensive tourist trap which wanted another taxpayer funded exhibit to joint the ones Americans used to be able to see for free at the JSC. Houston is not a Tourist Mecca like NYC, LA-LA land or Whoreshington D.C. Nasa is putting the shuttles where will get the maximum exposure and good will from their exhibition. Prudent given the fact that to balance the budget without raising taxes will require the elimination almost all discretionary spending. Times are going to be tough and NASA needs all the support it can get from the public.
