MiG 23 "Flogger". Speculation is still rife over here in the UK as to who was flying the aircraft (rebels or Gaddafi loyalists) but from what i can determine it was hit by AA artillery while over Benghazi. BBC news showed footage of the plane circling before the attack, and at one point the pilot appeared to have dropped down low over the city. Idiot practically asked for a burst from a ZSU. As has already been said, the pilot managed to eject but at low altitude and was unfortunately killed. Ive heard rumours that not long before this incident, the rebels managed to down and Su-22. But this was a sketchy report from a local news agency.
