Tony Moore and I went to Vandenberg for the launch. We had a prime view from the northern part of the base. The all liquid-fueled rocket made a stately departure, much slower than the old Titan IVs with their solid-fuel boosters. The Delta IV-Heavy was a lot quieter, too. Some analysts believe that the payload was a KH-11/KH-12-type electro-optical imagery satellite.
