thanks for the info. I also see on the celestron site that they have a C130 MAK scope (5"), which has a focal length of 2000mm, but is heavier than the C5, but also about 30% less $.
do you guys use tripods - or is it usually too windy to use a tripod (mounting on the lens)?
I would imagine setting the camera/lens on some sandbags easiest up there - less weight and bulk to carry up there. maybe even having one on top of the lens too? I'm also guessing some sort of remote shutter release is a requirement too, so as not to induce any more vibration than needed for shots like this.
I have a Canon EOS Rebel XTi body.
