It looks like the NE side of the hangar, about 1/5 of its width, is a separate area. The roof looks different there. The rest of the hangar seems to be one large open area right now. This split would also explain the asymmetric shape of the roof. The NE side will probably be storage and offices or control rooms.

Yes, a wind tunnel would make a lot of sense, too.
