Hi there I viewed the Red Flag earlier this year. Of a nighttime I found the Mailbox a very good viewing piont as you can see the planes grouping and then attacking in waves. Then you can always camp out and keep an eye out on the base :) I beleive the powerlines overlook is a great place but I never made it up there. Ask the locals in Rachel , I found them to be similar to a 2nd family to me and unbeleivably helpfull and kind !! THE BARON
I stayed in Rachel for two weeks to watch it.
During the day , I would travel to Queens Summit (20 minute drive from the Little Ale`inn (the other direction to Groom Lake Rd)) there is a little turn off to the left. Take this road for a few miles and you will see an abandoned ranch. (dont go to far otherwise your trying to get into the Range)
Anywhere around here I was doing all my daytime viewing. Usually the big birds would drop in this area. You would get nice shots of C130`s at approx 200ft. You would also get fighters dancing in sky from 300ft to 20+k ft.
