This cold spell is temporary. Forcasts indicate a warming trend starting Tuesday. Of course, it will still be cold, but not cold cold. I've car camped in the ranges in January. When you get cold, turn on the engine and warm up the car. No big deal. I have a sub zero (-20 I think) sleeping bag, and I leave my down jacket on. A ski mask is a good idea, as well as a thermal hat that covers your ears. If you were thinking of camping in a tent, then it's a different story. However, I've camped on Tikaboo during October when the temps got in the 20s. Not fun, but not the end of the world. But I wouldn't set up a tent during the winter. Car camping is the way to go. Incidentally, REI has mittens that have removeable tops to expose your finger tips so that you can operate a camera.
