I hadn't thought of that fact. Wasn't part of the big deal with the Bird of Prey that it blends into its surroundings well? The camo on the F-22 is definitely very different looking than all previous planes. Thinking about it a little more, my guess is that any optical camo on airborne anything is going to be entirely passive. Advanced paints that redirect light in funny ways-- which are currently being experimented with in the declassified world as well. Seeing as the most threatening systems to military jets don't use visible light as their primary means of targeting, it doesn't make much sense to spend the millions it would take to produce anything active.
