A USAF HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter of the 66th Rescue Squadron at Nellis AFB crashed during a nighttime training mission on August 18, 2016 around 10pm. It seems likely that it was participating in the Red Flag Exercises. The crew of 4, reported to be from Moody AFB, GA, survived with minor injuries. We hear the worst injury was a broken leg.
In the photos the helicopter is laying on its left side on top of a small rise in the terrain. A machine gun or other equipment is sticking out the right side of the aircraft, which is pointed up.
Media reports say the crash occurred in an "undisclosed location" of the NTTR. However, while it is true that the crash site is located within the MOAs, it is on public land.
