Take note towards the end of the article it makes it a point to mention the F-35 and its 5th generation sensors that is playing the pivotal role of actually seeing these objects almost consistently, whereas previously 4th gen and earlier airframes it had not been consistent. There is far more occurring at our mil operating ranges, both CONUS and OCONUS regarding this topic. Anywhere the F-35 is operating, there is high probability of detecting something anomalous.
