This is where you are (respectfully) kinda wrong Joerg. Browsers will implement a warning (or some even a blockade) in the coming months that does not allow a field that contains when it's served by a http connection. It would be a shame if people would stopped posting because of their browserwarning. You could choose to only host the forum on an SSL certificate just to not have that error. The rest of the site can easily be visited from an SSL connection also with a 2 rules script that forwards http to https. This will help for SEO (so better for Google), more professional, more secure. Heck, you can even get it for free from LetsEncrypt.

For the rest I would not change the website, but maybe change the buttons on the left to be just HTML with CSS so it would load quicker, the rest, if you would access CloudFlare then the e-mailadresses wouldn't be public like they now are (e-mailscrapers), disables bots that have malicious content, etc. It's a really good time investment (well, it takes about 5 minutes to setup, gives you free ssl, more information about the users, but also anonymous for you and the users which is great. Privacy is a great value in their opinion). Like for example their nameservers; 1.1.1.1. They even have a mobile app for faster 4g now because of their own DNS structure without logging to your ISP.

I cannot stress enough (literately with all respect to you, the community and the website) to update this, or the site will be eventually ignored on multiple platforms, that would be such a shame. As said before in mail, if you want me to help, I am willing to set this up for free. Having experience with aviation websites that pull 1 million unique a day.

Hope you consider it someday,
Regards,
