A heavy tripod up on Tikaboo is essential. On top of the distance, most of the time it is quite windy up there. I heard some people use sand bags (brought up empty) to rest their scope on, but it makes it harder to get a consistent pan across the base for a panorama.

The two hardest things to deal with if you use a spotting scope mounted to a DSLR camera are the manual focus and focus drift due to the scope warming up in the early morning. With your Nikon both of these issues are eliminated. Definitely an improvement! Keep producing great videos like that.
