If you go to Planet.com or EOS.com land viewer you can get pretty recent imaging. You can see the arresting gear at the end of the runway is getting a total makeover. I thought I remember someone stating that the arresting gear was only rated for the F117. I might be getting stories confused, as I also read and article on the SR-71 needing to use the arresting gear on Kadena due to a break or drag shoot failure. The article stated that all airstrips where special aircraft flew in and out of need to have the arresting system, which you can see in the satellite images of both Groom and TTR.
Also in the images, you can see the opposite end of the runway getting some love…
