i an an aero engineer just to put my comments in perspective.... i believe the launch approach for this design is far superior to launching from the top of the carrier. this design has a lot going for it in the areas of aerodynamics and safety. in about 1990 or so, i mentioned to my boss at the time how awesome the sr-71 was - i was fortunate enough to be able to watch the nasa sr-71 take off on it's weekly flight most wednesday mornings at edwards afb from very near the runway. i know for a fact that my boss was a51 cleared to some extent so i believed him when he told me that the sr-71 was NOTHING compared to what was actually flying at that time, i suspect that this thing or something like it actually flew. btw, the wheel is a rather old design and it is still relevant today. greatguess
