To elaborate on one point:

As someone who actually IS a physicist, the physics community is small. Specialized areas of the community, such as nuclear physics, are even smaller. Believe me, everyone knows everyone. This is especially true since experimental work in this and related areas can only be done at a small number of facilities, and in the era he purports to have been a "nuclear physicist" computer simulation could have only been known at a small number of locations.

Lazar's claim is similar to one of having won Super Bowl MVP and no one being aware of it.
