Military. He flew the RB-57F. It amazes me the level of photographic technology for 1970. He has a photo of Phoenix that he took from 70,000 feet and you can count the poles at the drive-in theaters and every car on I-10, very clear resolution. Our family got to watch him get suited up for a mission once. Which is a 2 hour process. Just like NASA, starts with breakfast, then medical check, then putting on the pressure suit, and then the ride in a blue van to his airplane. I didn't see him much those years but do have some great memories.
