Notam: notice to air men You will need to look around the FAA website to get all the abbreviations. I don't have the link handy, but google should find it. Generally locations are given out in nautical miles and a radial from the navigation fix, generally the nearest VOR. Notams are good for getting the location of crash sites since they often put out a notam limiting flights over crash scenes.
